AmbulanceThe GMHS Emergency Department operates as a Level III trauma center, 24 hours a day. The highest quality of care is provided to patients of all ages who require emergency services.

Board certified ER Physicians and certified ER/Trauma Nurses

S.A.F.E. N.E.T.

(Sexual Assault Forensic Examiner - Nurse Examiner Trained) Nurses are trained to be able to perform assault examinations and gather forensic evidence from survivors of assault.

Level III Trauma Center

Level III provides resuscitation, stabilization, and assessment of injury victims and provides treatment and/or admission; when necessary, arranges for appropriate transfer to a higher level designated trauma facility.

  • Provides acute care of major to minor illness and injuries

New, state of the art facility and equipment

  • Specialized rooms for trauma, gynecologic exams, and eye exams
  • Private patient corridor connecting emergency area with x-ray department

Governor's Award of Excellence

Received in both 2003 and 2004 for exceptional quality improvement activities in the clinical areas of acute myocardial infarction (heart attack) and pneumonia

Works with Newaygo County Medical Control Authority to:

  • Oversee EMS (Emergency Medical Services) activities in Newaygo County
  • Coordinate ambulance services
  • Train first responders
