Nellie McCarty Scholarship Fund
About the Fund: The Nellie McCarty Scholarship fund was established in 1980 through a bequest to Spectrum Health Gerber Memorial by Miss Nellie McCarty, a long time benefactor of the hospital. Miss McCarty, a former Fremont resident, died May 11, 1977, in New York City, where she lived and worked for over 60 years. Because she long had an interest in health and health education, the Board of Directors of Spectrum Health Gerber Memorial set aside money in her name to help those seeking careers in health related fields. The education fund established in her name offers outright grants to help finance education for persons interested in health careers.
