When you come to Spectrum Health Gerber Memorial, Associates of the Office Services department are likely to be the first who will greet you. The Office Services department has several different components:

The Information Desk is located in the main lobby, as you come in the main entrance off Maple Street in Fremont. There is an associate to greet you daily from 6:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. On Saturday and Sunday, it is staffed from 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

Visiting hours for patients are left to the discretion of the patient's nurse, but must end by 8:00 p.m.

The Registration/Admitting Office, also located in the main lobby of the hospital, is open from 6:30 a.m. to 11:30 p.m., Monday through Sunday. You may reach someone from this office by dialing (231) 924-1369. All patients must have an order for services and then be registered into the computer system with the correct demographic and insurance information before any procedure or test may be performed.

The Office Services Representatives are cross-trained for several job functions. They greet customers over the telephone or in person, register and admit patients, process incoming and outgoing mail, deliver mail and flowers to patients, receive payments on patient accounts, direct customers to their appropriate destinations, and maintain office equipment.

Other services related to the Office Services Department are calling insurance companies for pre-certification and eligibility of insurance, quality improvement monitoring and evaluation, and providing excellent customer service.
